Voters trust the GOP over Democrats to best handle imperative economic issues, weeks before midterms: new poll

A CNBC All-America Economic Poll found that 42% of Americans think the Republican Party will do a better job at reduce inflationWhile only 27% think the Democrats are the best party to confront the issue.

The majority of respondents also indicated that they have more confidence in the Republican Party to create more jobs, better handle taxes and reduce the federal deficit. The Democrats were the party least confident in addressing the majority of critical economic issues. However, respondents trusted them most to reduce the cost of healthcare and care for the middle class.

“We tested a number of economic issues and Republicans were kind of turning the table, except for the cost of health care,” said Micah Roberts, partner at Public Opinion Strategies. “If this election was just about the economy, which we know it’s not, but if it’s just about the economy, it would be total bombing.”

“The way things are moving in general, the way things are looking, it’s definitely more upside for Democrats and maybe a little bit skewed down for Republicans,” added Jay Campbell, partner at Heart Research.
